Starts hard, then runs great
Hi all,
My '90 wagon has suddenly become somewhat hard to start. Not terrible, but a few spins of the starter, and a few pumps of the gas pedal.
It used to start with a touch. And even now, once started, runs like a champ (the best of 4 240s I've owned). Points, plugs, rotor, spark plug wires, etc. are all in good shape.
Any ideas?

pull your codes my friend...that's the best place to start. There are other posts in here that address this same issue...a comon answer begins with the fuel/air mixture and progresses all the way to Mass Air Flow sensor.
Ummmm............. forgive my ignorance, but: my "check engine" light is not on/has not been on. In the absence of "check engine", are there still codes to be pulled? Are there always codes than can be pulled?
Can you pull codes on an 89 740gl station wagon, and where and how do I do this? I can't find anything that looks likea obd2 connector. I know its a bit early for OBD2, but i don't see anything similiar.
Here is a good source to help understand how the engine diagnostics work on the 240
