Strange brake light problem with my Volvo 240
Hello,
I have a 1991 Volvo 240 sedan. When I turn the lights on, my brake lights come on as well. I've replaced the bulbs and cleaned the sockets, but it didn't help. I even disconnected one brake light at a time, but the other still would turn on with the lights.
The brake light on the rear window works fine, it's just the ones in the taillight assembly.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.

Small Update: When I removed fuses 15 and 16, for parking lights, I don't have tail lights while my headlights are on, but the brake lights work normal. I also cleaned the grounds by the tail lights. I'm unable to locate the bulb failure sensor. My manual shows it to be below the driver's side A/C vent, but it is not there.
I'm not the sharpest tool in shed however my daughters 240 has had numerous tail light issues. Most of the time it was caused by short or power bleeding across the circut board a close examination usually shows where power bleeds across to brake lights. wish I could remember the term when power bleeds off. Also check the fuse bar that holds all the fuses. You will find it because it is not all that uncommon. Hopefully another wizzard will get on here to help.
