Default Strange light problem

Does anyone have any idea why the left side turn signals(front and rear) would blink twice as fast as the right side? It's a 1993 Turbo Wagon.

Isn't there a sensor on these cars that tell you if a bulb is burned?

The bulb failure sensor only works on the lowbeams (not high beams), the brake lights, and the parking lights (front and rear). it doesn't work on the turn signals as they are used separately, instead, like many other cars of the same generation, a bad turn signal causes them to flash at double speed.

note this can also happen if you use LED bulbs for your turn signals.

Strangely, after I replaced my turn signal bulb and the flashing was normal the sensor light on the dash came on. Half way thru checking all the bulbs it dawned on me - I have a third brake light. And sure enough it was out. I replaced that and everything is hunky dory. Just a reminder to do a thorough check before confusion and mental illness kick in!
