Default Stray Wire 1988 240 GL

Hi, I’m in the process of cleaning up the radio wiring from a previous owner. Once I pulled the radio out I came across a stray wire with an inline fuse. It’s not bundled with the radio wires. From the dashboard it travels back to the top of kick panel near the fuse block in the footwell on the driver’s side and then disappears down in there.

Everything on the cars works. No matter what I do there is never any voltage on the wire. It also doesn’t read as a ground. The fuse is good and I checked for voltage and ground before the fuse with a Power Probe. Nothing.

Thanks for any advice you have!

Dave

Stray wire with online fuse that isn’t attached to anything. Everything on the car is working. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's not factory with that inline fuse. Probably from an aftermarket tuner installed in the past

Default Thanks

Thanks hoonk. I’m going to trace it all the way back and see where it lands before I strip it out.

A yellow, fused wire is often a switched 12v lead from the ignition. As hoonk noted, it is likely from a previous installation.
