Taking things apart

Taking things apart
Id say i have a fairly good understanding of cars and mechanical things with them. I like to tinker alot and just got my new volvo 940 turbo and want to start cleaning out the whole engine. for 185k on it and the abuse on the inside, the exterior and engine seem to be in great shape. I know the timing belt needs to be looked at and or changed, but i wanted to start going about cleaning and taking everything off and making it clean and deposit free. As far as the sensors and everything, if i take things off and put them back on, are volvos gonna throw a code or mess things up? I feel like its running lean, and want to change out the air fliter and clean the whole throttle body and what not.

I cleaned out the throttle body and took apart the airfilter and cleaned that out and also the intercooler hoses, put it all back together after cleaning the couplings and clamps and ends of the hoses. Had alittle bit of oil in the tubes? not sure what that means? Once i put it back together had a rough idle. Before i did it it was perfect right about 600 or so rpms, now bobs alittle between 5-7. Over time its getting better but what might have triggered it?

not yet. I didnt want to take apart to much considering no one answered if these cars have alot of sensors that when up plugged and pluged back in cause issues. So i want to take apart most of the viewable parts and motors and clean them out, would there be issues putting it back togeter. code wise?
