Default Tire question for 82 240 DL

I'm considering buying an 82 volvo gl on tuesday. I'm going to have to replace the tires for good all year round tires very soon. i don't have alot of cash, so if the tires are 14's what are my tire options? (bare in mind that i know next to nothing about cars lol.... yet anyways). I called the volvo parts dealer in my area and he said that i could get a new set for $500. Not bad, but cheaper would be better for me cause i still need to get them installed too.

Do i have to buy "volvo" tires, or would any 14's work?

Do you know that 14" is your tire size?

Any tire would work. post a pic of the wheel, someone can help you.

I have these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....+Pole+Position

they are pretty good. haven't tried them in snow yet.

I'm not buying the car until tuesday, so i can't put a pic up until then unfortunately. The woman couldn't tell me the tire size cause she is in another province at the moment. My step dad told me that it is either in mm, 14 or 15 inchs, with 14's being the most common.

This is the picture in the ad.

They look like Turbine (probably early GT wheels) wheels. they should be 14"s
wait for others to post up.

We got my 82 244T for $1800. ours is in great condition inside and out, and only has 147,000miles.

Good web site, thank you again The ad said the car had a lot of work done recently and says it runs awesome.. only reason they are selling is because they are moving out of province, so good deal for me I don't know how many kms are on it yet, she is emailing me and not near the car, so she can't answer most of my questions yet.

Noproblem...

I wouldn't buy the car with out a test drive and looking over the maintenance records, checking for rust...etc.

Good luck still sounds like a great buy!

My step dad fixes and sells a lot of cars, so he'll make sure its all in working order before i sign anything. Once i've got new tires and any other important things done, i intend to paint it shiny black with tinted windows among other things :P

Sweet! Post up when you get it!

Remember that you can remove one of the wheels and check the stamp on the inside of the rim for its diameter, offset and width.
