I have a 89 740gl wagon nonturbo. What is the code number for a 5 speed manuel transmission of this year and model ( b230, b234?)

 

Those are engine codes. The B230F is the non turbo SOHC engine, and the B234F is the non turbo DOHC engine.

 

The manual transmission used was the M47

 

Thanks again for the reply. My aim is to find a used 5 speed trans to replace the one in the car right now.

 

By all means, get an M47 then. Swapping in an M46 involves lots of extra stuff like swapping the front drive shaft and wiring in the relay, solenoid and switching to a shifter with a switch to engage the overdrive...much simpler and cheaper to stay with the M47.
