Tune-up FAIL
Howdy,
So I went ahead an bought an IPD extended tune-up kit for my 91 740 no-turbo. Last night I replaced the spark plugs (having adjusted the gap to 0.030"), replaced the cap and rotor and the spark plug wires. Went to fire it up and I have never heard a more miserable engine... I am wondering where I went wrong... Having replaced the rotor, I assumed there was only one direction the rotor could face due to the slotted fit. With regards to the wires, I used intuition and the shortest wire went to the closest plug and leftmost plug end on the distributor (if you are facing the car).
My initial guess was that the wires were not making complete contact with the head of the spark plug but I guess this is how wires fit? It seemed real loose to me...
Anywho, any help would kindly be appreciated. Thanks!

The dizzy is only there to distribute the spark. The timing is done by the ECU so I doubt you messed up the timing. You need to go back and review everything that you did. Somewhere you screwed up so walk back through the process. you'll find the problem.
