Turbo, any mechanical issues

Turbo, any mechanical issues
As I look to replace my 1990 240 sedan, I am looking at some 740, 940 Turbos. Specifically, a
1990 740 Turbo wagon, 102k miles
1994 940 Turbo wagon, 152k miles
I am concerned the turbocharger will have repair issues that can add up quickly. Any thoughts/experience on this front?
Also under consideration is a 1995 960 sedan, which has been worked on by a local volvo performance shop.
Thanks!

the turbo engines are a little more complicated, there's more hoses, additional oil plumbing, more vacuum circuits, but its the same basic engine as the 240. as long as they've been maintained reasonably well, they are quite durable, as its really a rather mild boost compared to many other cars. the 94/95 B230FT have additional oil squirters inside the engine to cool the piston skirts, this can improve longetivity, so thats a plus. The 91/92 740's are really 940 base models in most ways, but the difference between a '90 740 and a 91 940 is pretty damn small. The turbo models have a beefier AW71 version of the AW70 transmission that was likely in your 240.
the main thing with the turbo is to give it a chance to lubricate itself when its cold (eg, idle a few more seconds after starting before driving off, and resist stomping on it til its warmed up), and don't zoom that last mile up the hill into your driveway and shut it down hot, you should take it easy the last couple minutes before parking it.
the 700/900 is a much nicer car than the 200 in many ways, it rides better, they are quieter, roomier. with a bit of suspension upgrade, they handle really well for a mid-sized car. turning radius that puts any FWD or SUV to shame.
i have a 92 740 T wagon with about 190K miles on it
