real quick.....if the turbo dies out.....will the car (91 740) still run well?

 

Depends on what you mean by "well".

It will start nice, idle smooth, but will have no power without the Turbo.

But the failure mode on turbos that I am familiar with (Garrett T3) is that either the oil seals fail (smoke), if the turbo is water cooled those seals too can fail (more smoke but a different color).

A turbo can also fail from outside damage. If something gets into either the exhaust or intake turbines they can be cut down mighty suddenly.

Sometimes a turbo can "fail" because the wastegate sticks open. Then you have no boost.

just wondering.....i own a 91 740 and it runs great... a little too great lol.

 

The car will run and drive but be slower that a dog!!
