Hello everyone, I know that the u joint is cheap. What do you think it will cost to have a new one put in?

Well Scott, there are three u joints. while it isn't etched in granite to replace all 3 at the same time the fact is while the drive shaft is pulled one generally does. Particularly, as you know, the parts are not particularly expensive. As well, this is the time to check the pinion seal, carrier bearing and carrier bearing support. Two hours labor should get it all.

Make sure it is the u joints. Every volvo I have checked with klunk in forward, klunk when put in reverse it was the two large rubber rear end bushings all clapped out.
