I have a 1981 Volvo 240Dl Wagon with about 243k, normally runs pretty good for a car its age. However, today I drove to the store and got some stuff and when I got in, it refused to start. It's acting like it wants to, but just wont turn over. I am kinda thinking fuel pump or clogged fuel filter but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

 

do you mean the starter motor won't turn over
or the engine does not fire
more details will get you more advice
start with the basics
is there gas in the tank ?
can you hear the fuel pump come on for a few seconds when you turn the key on ?
spark ?
air filter ?
timing belt ?
etc.
