Default Car has trouble starting up

Hello!

I have a 2001 Volvo S40 with 90,000 miles on it. A few months ago, my check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the spark plugs, and gave me a new thermostat. As I was driving away, my check engine light came back on. I took it back again, and I got the computer upgrade done. That seemed to take care of the problem.

Now, the check engine light came on again, and I really have to crank the car up in the morning. Once I start the car, I have no problem with it or its performance. It just seems that if the car is idle for some time, I have to crank it. If the car is still "warm", I don't have much of a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You need to atleast have the codes pulled before we can give you info on what it could be.

IM not sure where you are But Auto Zone and Discount Auto parts pulls codes for FREE.

Are the software upgrades free?

Free? Yeah right.....I wish ha ha.

It cost me about 150 dollars, and they told me there was a chance that the upgrade could cause the computer in my car to crash. They said it had happened at that dealer before. Luckily, I was OK.

Check fuel and rest pressures.

Remove the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator after you run the car for a couple of minutes. If fuel leaks out you have a bad fuel pressure regulator.
