Default Under Window Trim Removal

My current door on my 245 was bent and did not close properly so I went to the junkyard and got a door from another car. the only difference is the top trim right under the window how do you remove this.
the original door is from an1985 245.

What year is the car? The donor looks to be from 1986 or newer, your car looks older. I believe the trim is just pressure fitted.

The trim on the donor door is removed by bending the rear most section of the trim that kinda wraps around the vertical door post. You bend this wrapped around piece so it is parallel with the rest of the trim. Once you have done this use a plastic trim tool to pry up on the trim and release the metal clips that hold it on. I just did this on all 4 doors on my wagon to replace the rubber window wiper seals.

I know on our 87, that black trim was just painted on. SEM Black Trim paint works great as a repair.

a closeup picture of the back end of the new door might be helpful, where this trim piece meets the door, from a 3/4 reverse angle...

hmmm, my VADIS catalog just shows 'weatherstrip' (the outer window sill/wiper piece), and no separate platform like your car shows.

oh I got the old and new mixed up... the grey door is from the 1990 donor car, and the beige one is your 1985 ?

yeah, Vadis shows it changed after MY 1985 to the newer painted style. the older style, the weather strip appears to be part of that molding. no clue in the parts diagram how its held on. still betting on double sided tape.

@xactorocker
I am about to embark on the removal of that heavy trim in order to put my '84 doors (heavy trim) on a '90 240 (narrow trim).

I've been able to start to pry the heavy trim off with a plastic tool -- I've gotten through that adhesive strip, but the trim itself seems to be attached at the door. Will I be able to leave the trim OFF? I am planning to have the whole car painted when all is done, but is there going to be some kind of hideous gap between the body and the rubber strip?

There shouldn't be a "hideous" gap as the doors are basically the same but you may need another narrower molding to cover that space by the looks of it in the pictures (I lack direct personal experience in this operation).
