I could use some assistance in identifying an unknown part from my 1995 940 Volvo Station Wagon. The piece cracked and needs replacing. Local auto shops are unable to identify it, and I was hoping someone could point me the right direction for a suitable replacement. I have attached an image. What appears to be a plastic air intake splitter has cracked. Any thoughts? I appreciate the help. Thank you.
indeed, that is the pulsair system ... it blows air into special ports on the exhaust side of the head.... and its very subject to failure when one way reed valves get stuck in those exhaust air ports..
I believe Volvo's official fix way back when was to rip the whole thing out, and install plugs in the air ports under the exhaust manifold ports, also plug where the air tube comes off the intake side of things.
so, you can pretty much remove everything shown here,
and plug where hose 10 comes from, as well as the 4 ports ...
