Default upgrade from 240

I am looking for advice on buying a successor to my 240 wagon which I sold on the East Cost.

Right now I am shopping for cars in East Bay area. Options include 740 wagon'91; 940 wagon turbo'93 and finally there some 850 wagons on the market as well. I am aiming to buy something a bit newer that 240, hopefully with a smaller number of quirks, but of a similar style/class.

850's tend to have MORE quirks, and be significantly more expensive to maintain.

a turbo 940 has significantly more power and go compared with a non-turbo, but its also more complicated, there's more things to go wrong. late 740 and early 940 wagons are nearly identical cars. they are a nice incremental improvement over a 240, but with the same basic robust drive train. 7/9's have better electrics, better ride, quieter interior than a 240.

my daily driver is a 1992 740 turbo wagon, which I got quite cheap and spent a fair bit of time and money getting all sorted out to be a totally reliable car again.
