Default Upper heater core hose

I am the proud owner of a 1993 940 Turbo with 160,000 miles. I have just recently taken two long road trips (over 1,500 miles each) and wound up in the repair shop with the same heater core hose (upper hose) failing both times. The configuration of the hose routes the hose right around the transmission dipstick and the hose happens to rest right on a hot piece of metal piping. Unfortunately, this causes the hose to fail (rubbing or getting hot) and then obviously the car overheats. I was just curious if any of you fellow 940 owners have had the same problem as me? I think I have the problem solved for good now because I routed a new hose behind the transmission dipstick instead of around it. This keeps the hose far away from any metal. If any of you have the same problem please let me know if your fix was the same as mine or if you had a better idea.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm not 100% familiar with that model, but I assume it's the feed pipe for the EGR valve, and keeping the hose away from it would be a good thing.

The shop(s) probably assumed the hose was routed properly and just sprung a leak, so they installed the new hose the same way as the old one.

Pretty sure that is what is happening on your car, that outlet hose is coming into contact with one of the pipes coming to the EGR valve. Failing after heating up and causing the overheat problem. If you can find a flexible enough hose you can route away from the pipe itself that might help for now. But the outlets size may make finding a hose that size a problem. But until you do I would recommend keeping a set of hoses as spares just in case. Part numbers 3507412 and 3507413, do not want to run the risk of overheating somewhere you can not get a tow.
