Default URGENT! Removing rear hatch Volco 240 1990 wagon

Someone is here NOW to work on fixing the electrical on the hatch,
to fix the 3rd brake light that does not work.

Can the hatch be removed and put back on?

It appears that the electrical wires go thru the hatch - ? - and to get to them the
hatch needs to be removed.

Sure
Remove the headliner and you will see 2 bolts on each hinge

The wires go through the hinges on sides but the passenger side also has the ground wire

The hinges are also attached to the door with 2 bolts
One on the hinge arm and one that goes into an L shaped bracket.

If you google an image of the hinge all will be clear

Basically, it's the fabric covering the "roof" of the car
Sit in the car and look up, that's the headliner.

Sure thing, I am glad to help!

Also, If you need to replace the hinge with the ground strap in it, be aware that the wire is broken on almost ALL used hinges

I made a new one out of flexible wire and layers of shrink tubing, then riveted it in.
