Default Volv 760 Turbo relay?

I have a 760 Turbo, which runs great. However, in hot weather, after driving a while and shutting off the engine,
(doing some errants for a few minutes), and then wanting to continue the trip, I need to open the hood
and wait for about 2 minutes, before I can start the engine again.
Nothing happens when I turn over the key, except the lights on the dash come on. No turnover sound.
I have taken the car to two mechanics over almost a year to check on this problem; they checked the battery connections, etc. Since it does not do this when it is cool, I had thought the problem was solved over the winter and spring.
But the problem is still there. The mechanics tell me that it could be a relay switch. Could that be the case?
All switches were replaced not too long ago. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

blitzmesser

I would say starter is bad.

Thanks. I had the starter replaced in August 04. Could it wear out that fast?

Thanks.

If the engine doesn't turn over at all then I look at the starter.

If the starter was rebuilt then yes it will wear out that fast.

Not one other technican has mentioned the starter! Including the dealership, where I have my car serviced.
I can't believe it !!! and will definitely look into having the starter replaced.
Will let you know if that fixes the problem.

Thank you very much.

Easy way to test it is to put a testlight on the small wire on the starter when it happens. Have someone turn the key and watch it. If there is power there and the starter doesn't work the starter is bad.
