Default Volvo 240 engine wiring, identify connector.

please view attached images to indentify this faulty connector that causes crank no start no spark due to deterioration of connector causing both wires to lose connection. when connector is manually disengaged the pins are pushed, had to pull pins through connector to connect pins in order to make a good connection. Can this connector be eliminated by the wires being permanently connected with Butt/ Barrel crimp connection.?

drivers side inner fender 6 ft distance.

drivers side inner fender from 3 ft distance

drivers side inner fender from 1 foot distance

drivers side inner fender from 1/2 foot.

Well, I don't know where the leads come from and go to, but I have used your same solution in the past with no problems. I used butt connectors and some dielectric grease.
