My girlfriend's240 gave the error code 2-1-4 for the ignition. The probable cause says ignition RPM signal erratic. It won't start and just cranks. It start once and was idling great and I put it in drive and it shut off. I couldn't get it to start again. Any help would be great! P.S. don't really have the money to fix things, hope its a simple fix

 

ok, so did you check the RPM sensor? when you get that code, it is usually traced to the RPM sensor which picks up and transmits RPM readings to the computer. you may need a new unit. check on top of the transmission right next to where the tranny meets the engine. The sensor is probably black, and connects, i think to the wiring harness above the firewall.
