Does anyone know if the front seat headrests are removable? There is no apparent method of removing them and I tried pressing in various spots but nothing seemed to release them. Are the head rests from any other model interchangeable? Thanks.

 

yes, they are removable, no, they aren't easy. I am not sure if the 900 head rests will fit 700 seats, guess it depends on the spacing the two posts. ah, 940/960 1991-1993 uses the same headrest.

if you have the 'ladder' type headrests, there WAS a cushion available that snapped onto them, but no idea if you can find that anymore.

directly under them on the back of the seat, there's a release spring on each side, you have to push quite hard through the material to reach it, then press it up to release while simulataneously pulling the headrest straight up out of the seat back... its at the base of the top 'roll' of the seat frame.

 

I recently fixed the lumbar support on my car, and snapped a few pictures of the process. you can see the catches for the headrest are right up top, the white pieces. You simply need to push them inwards, at the approximate location and the headrest will release.

 

to be clear, the bits you push on are at the very BOTTOM of those white tubes... this is at the very top of the center panel of fabric on the rear, and just below the top bolster on the back of the seats.
