Volvo - DVD in headrests (UK)
Hi all
We're taking our Volvo XC90 to France from the north of England this summer, and I'm looking into the possibility of getting DVD screens fitted into the headrests for the kids for the journey.
Volvo charge an arm and a leg for this (over £2k + fitting, I think ).
Any tips on getting a better price?
I know others do non-Volvo versions (less than £1k with fitting inc.) - what's the quality of these like?
I know you can also get velcro type set-ups for portable DVDs... they look a bit cumbersome to me, but what are they like?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks a lot.[/align]

I live in CO, USA and our local Volvo dealer sells aftermarket video screens fitted to neckrests and you can't tell the difference. Volvo does not make the DVD player or screens anyway.
Here is a link to a US company that providesVizualogicA1000 Headrests for 05-07 Volvo XC90. $1,399.99 for single and US$1,599.99 fordual DVD (NTSC) playersbuilt intoheadsethttp://www.carelectronicsworld.com/i...amp;ProdID=500. You should be able to find these in Europe since these are produced in Taiwan. Good luck with your search.

This particlular option does not require that you connect to the OEM sound system since it comes with infrared headsets. All you need to do is to hook up to power and replace the current headsets (minimally invasive approach). Other solutions would require you hook up to your existing sound systemwhich may require professional installation.
