My 96 Volvo 945 suddenly stalls when driving.
Its a b230 fk
When driving normaly the car suddenly stalls and wont start again.
its idling fine, but when i start driving its hesitstats and suddenly stops. when i turn the key the engine is turning but wont start again. but after 30 mins it starts and idle just fine.
I recently changed the o rings seal in the injector because it was leaking.
new sparkplug and wire, new rotor, and distributer.
i think it may be a fuel problem.
Do you guys have any suggestion?

Sure, Here's info from the parts catalog and a wiring diagram. Some possibilities are: Bad connection at 20/15 the injector resistor (all power for the injectors goes through that), 2/12 Micro cracks in solder joints in the noise suppression relay (sends power to the injectors, it's before the resistor, Originally a black plastic cover, same size as the fuel pump relay with 4 connectors), Some cars have a second identical relay under the hood for the radiator aux cooling fan (if equipped) 2/13 fuel pump relay solder joint cracks and 7/25 engine speed sensor wrong resistance or missing insulation as previously mentioned, or 4/15 the ignition amp, could be bad or have a erratic connection. (move the connector to make sure it does not stall)

Are there any codes retrieved from 17/11 the self diagnostic port? Or since it's a 1996 (we have obd2 ports in the US on a 1996) any codes found with a scan tool at the OBD2 port? Power problems (bad connection, cracked solder joint in a relay) will usually not set a code. Bad speed sensor will set a code. Ignition amp is hard to diagnose, won't set a code but is usually not erratic, unless it's a poor connection to it. . .

 

I have the same problem but my car is a 1993 940 non-turbo Rex-Regina. Could it be the fuel pump relay?

 

This is such an awesome post. May I ask you where you got these diagrams, and where I might get them for myself?

I also have a 940 b230fk that lights up the Lambda light as soon as it is in warm running state. I do not have a diagnostic port (17/11), and none of the OBDII diagnostic devices I have tried works. The only thing I can do is try again after it cools, and disconnect the battery to clear the code.

Any idea what I can test, or which OBD reader works with these models? Its a shame I cannot use the car, and I suspect in is a failed component somewhere. I'm just at a loss as to which one it is.

I thought if I had a diagram like this for all the other sensors, and I could try to test each one of them.
