Hello! I have a very weird situation going on here. I'm currently driving an old 740 GLE from 86, with a 940 engine mounted on. Too bad i don't know where the previous owner took the 940 engine and what is version/number is. I do not have any code whatsoever of this engine, since the sticker got removed and i do not have the tools to look inside.

Getting to the problem: the diesel injection pump (not the one in the tank, tough i do not know if there is a pre-pump in the tank on this model) broke, and it got stuck in the position of max fuel injection, causing me quite a ride while i was driving on the streets.

Now, since i don't know exactly wich engine this is, i do not know the correct pump for replacing. What i do know, tough, is:

- the engine has egr valves and used an intercooler, so i can suppose it must be the 2.4 TD engine from volvo 940, the one with 122 horse power.
- the current diesel pump is a bosch pump, code 0460406076 (L116/7)
- my mechanic says the volvo 940 mounts bosch pump 0460406076 and 0460406077 (L116/8).

Now, i can't find any bosch pumps with these codes, what i DO find a lot, tough, are these codes, that should come from 740 i think, but the websites that offer replacement say they should mount on a 940 too.

The pumps have similar components but some major components are different, especially in my version, the 116/7.
My mechanic proposed to use a L116-5 he has stored, mount the good parts from my 116/7, and so mount the 116-5 renewed pump on the engine.

What should i do? I'm really having trouble finding the 116/7 replacement.

P.s.: i'm in italy, we don't have the huge websites with replacement parts that you have in the US ):

 

Unfortunately you won't get any help with this from the US as there were never any diesel 940 imported here, and the last diesel 740 was in the late '80's...

I'd look for help may be in England. Germany would be best if you can manage the language challenge: they had the 940 diesels until 1998.

A bit late but I think it could still be valuable to react:
I have a very good Bosch diesel pump nr. 0460 406 076 "sitting" here and I'll not be using it anymore. It comes (obviously) from a VW 2.4 TD engine that came out of a Volvo 940. It comes with the diesel filter + mount. Still looking for this part? Let me know!

And if you're interested I also have a complete new set of (6) HP diesel lines, an oil filter mount with lines, exhaust manifolds, generator and some more 24 D6 parts available here. Just let me know.

Reason I'm selling all this is that I think that (unfortunately) I'll not be driving any V240 diesel anymore. Allmost impossible to find a nice one and I allready have enough cars to take care of.
