Volvo 940 Regina with an attitude VS absolute beginner with a dream
I am very new to all this car tooling stuff but I have always wanted a Volvo station wagon. I knew it would be an uphill battle. I know next to nothing so please go easy on me!
The Car: 1993 Volvo 940, Regina.
The Issue: The car will run stop while driving. It had a big fit on this horrible 4 lane highway in a midsized city I went to. Kept stalling dying while driving. Died at the red light as I was about to pull into the DMV, died as entered traffic and I got stuck in the suicide lane. Car was trying to kill me! very stressful day. It took me about 160 miles there and 160 miles back home with no problem! The car also died on my way to work and turning into parking lots but those instances were a lot less terrifying.
It seems to me the car is dying at red lights and while accelerating up hills and through turns.
The fixes implemented so far: New battery. Gas filter was replaced recently according to my friend who I bought the car from. I have ordered a crankshaft position sensor and a fuel pump relay as I have read those are possibilities and I was able to find the parts for relatively cheap.
I have read it is possibly the fuel pressure regulator but I am having trouble even finding one for the regina so I really hope that is not the issue.
Any other advice or things I should look at? I do still have to check out the codes, sometimes the car throws a light on the dash, other times no. Is the crankshaft position sensor difficult to replace?
