Washer Fluid Reservoir Leaking

Washer Fluid Reservoir Leaking
In the course of investigating why the rear spritzer on my '91 model 740 Wagon wasn't spritzing, I took it upon myself to extract one of the pumps from the washer fluid reservoir. Now that I've put it back, the reservoir leaks (an understatement) when I fill it up.
The bottom surface of the pump I pulled out has an oval shape and is hard plastic - no rubber seals - and the hole it mates with in the reservoir is simply a round hole. I can't get a good seal between the two which explains the leak.
Is there some gasket/seal that may have dropped out when I did this? I couldn't find any parts lying around, but I've driven the car since then and something could have been lying in the engine compartment and later fallen out.
Any hints on getting the pump mated back to the reservoir with a good seal?
Thanks for any help,

RE: Washer Fluid Reservoir Leaking
yup you have lost the little rubber washer it pushes into the water bottle and the pump pushes into that dont think it would be to dear you could always try wrapping ptfe tape round it then pushing that in dono if you call it ptfe tape in the usa plumbers use it round threads then tighten them up

Hm, maybe I even managed to push it into the reservoir when I first re-seated the pump. I'm sure it wouldn't be an expensive part, but I'd imagine its awfully hard to find. The pump nozzle seems too much smaller than the reservoir hole to make wrapping it with that tape practical. I'd need to use a ton. Some sort of rubber stopper plus plumber's tape might be just the ticket...

If the tape doesn't work try RTV silicone, its used to help seal valve covers, oil pans, intake coolant passages etc., but I've seen it used everywhere. If the pump wants to fall out you'll need to tape it in place so the silicone can harden up(over night). Good luck
