Wink Water into the cabin ... Help

Hi all:

I have a 90 740 turbo wagon w/intercooler. It has a 150 k on it. I am getting water and/or coolant leaking into the cabin. It sometimes shows up in the front passenger area or back passenger area both right side of car. It is really wet when the water shows up. It seems like about a 1/2 gallon of water.

I have heard that a heater core will dump water into the cabin. But I don't think this is a heater core because while i am losing some coolant I don't think it is the amount that is showing up in the cabin.

It seems like my 850 turbo pees water after a run. I don't notice this on the 740. Has anyone else had experience with a problem like this and what was the fix? Thanks.

If it's water mixed with coolant, then it's likely the heater core, if it's clean water check the AC evaporator drain. I think it comes out on the firewall just above the exhaust downpipe

Does it happen after a rain or a car wash?

No it has not been doing it after a rain or carwash. And, I don't think it is coolant. I think it is water. I am thinking it has something to do with what was mentioned above. It seems like it would be pretty obvious if it was coolant. It does not feel sticky and it does not smell like coolant. If it is the A/C evaporator drain would the water pool up for awhile and then dump a large amount. Because that is what's happening. I dry out the carpet check the coolant level (which runs low after time). But what is happening is a large flush of water into the cabin. Does that sound like an A/C evaporator drain?

If anyone has a repair procedure on the A/C evaporator drain -- or could describe a how to that would be appreciated.

BTW: I saw a write up for a heater core on that car and they were describing a 20 hour procedure for a rookie and about a 10 hour deal if you have done one in past. YUK!

It could be a blocked A/C condensate drain. Check out Dave Shannon's site...
