Default What do you think of this 240? Feedback Please

Just found this 1992 Volvo 240 on the internet..Looks pretty clean and it's coming from a legit dealership - Steingold Volvo in Pawtucket, RI - Take a look at the pictures an let me know what you think of it along with the price. I don't really mind paying too much for a nice one like this - I called on it and it's a one owner - Just wanted to hear some feedback before I drove down to look at it..Thanks so much to all who reply.

Nice...

Check all the resto-docs and see how it was done, also assuming the engine was rebuilt.

But it sounds like a nice grab.

It looks ok, nothing special... it's worth $3,500 tops. But I am a low baller. I paid $3,100for a '92 740 with 62k miles, and that was not a steal by any means.
The interior was redone (recovered) so it looks nice. How much is that worth? $1,000?
I don't know why you'd assume that the engine was rebuilt... that would be a bad sign for me... not a positive with 113k on it.

Like you said $3000-4000 for a descent one with low miles.
For that price.....I would except to get a rebuilt motor.
I actually overlooked the miles

I didn't see anything in the ad about an engine rebuild. And that "Volvo Certified Pre-Owned 130-Point Inspection"+ $3.00 will get you a latte at starbuck's.

Regardless of who is selling it; I would get it checked out by an independent tech (preferably one i knew and trusted) before buying; dealers are certainly not immune to trying to rip people off... (i know; i used to work for one..)

Plus at that price, i would have to want a 240 wagon real bad, AND it would have to be like new mint condition.

buyer beware....

That is a clean 240 but that price sure is steep.....Seems clean and in order. If you have to have it, def. like gdog said have it independently inspected ads the dealers 130 point inspection AKA PDI is just a lookover and it's not too thoroughly. From the pics. itis nice but for that price you can find 2 of them from a private individual that is just as good in condition but you will have to keep looking!.. Good luck!

I've been looking for months and the bad economy has everyone jumping all over low priced, good condition cars, so the dealer may be fishing for how high he can go.

Great car, I'd make a reasonable offer and then wait for the end of the month when he has to make his sale quotas. Down here that would be $4,500 ASKING tops.

Quite a ridiculous price for a 240.

Seven plus is way too high for this car. Nice car tho, but in the $3K range. Maybe higher coz it is so clean. But at 100K why would upholstery need replacement? I see Volvos in junkyards and the cloth versions hold up well into the 200K mile range. Agree, have Sven the independent Volvo guy in your town look at this car first.\

something just came to mind. Did this car survive a flood...... ?
