what is a good price?
I currently own a volvo 1989 240 dl and love the car. the body is in near perfect condition with very minut rust spots, however i was in a fender bender and did some damage to the front fender, and two days later I expirienced some electrical problem and it won't start. I have decided to sell because I am a college student and am sick of putting time and money into it ( almost every part is new within the past 2 years). I am sure that if someone who knows what they are doing bought it up and fixed the problem, the car would have a lot of life left in it, it has about 176,000 miles on it. At any rate im not sure what a fair asking price is for it and was looking for any input from someone a bit wiser than I ( if seeing pictures would help, i can do that as well) Thank you so much!!!!

Not running, dents, electrical issues, 176K. In my part of the world, Long Island, you would get no more than $350. Thats the same pice the scrap yard would give you. Find some one who loves Volvo's and lives in a place where they are scarce, $500+, Again this is just me and my town.

RE: what is a good price?
Sarah-Well heres my .02 worth...I just bought an 89 240 DL wagonlast Sept.with 200k, Runs great, had a couple of problems- Blower motor bad, ac not working, odometer not working, few plastic interior pieces broken. I have fixed all of them with minimal $$ spent. Car came from Virginia, NO rust, I paid 1200. I kept my eye on a few on Ebay, a couple similar ones went over 1800. I foundmine on Autotrader.com (like the little magazines but online, you can search all over the country) from a guy in Virginia. I'm in upstate NY, so I was looking for NO rust. Autotrader has photos to examine. I likes it better than Ebay cause the price didnt keep rising. Check it out! Hope this helps... Dave

I have an '87 with 143,000 miles on it, a bunch of rust, the waterpump leaks, slight leak in the radiator, strut spring seat is almost rusted through, it has a couple of broken engine mounts, needs a new tailpipe but it's driveable and the insurance is low so it's ok for transportation and great for an accident I was hoping to get $200 for it so... if you could get yours running you might get a lot more for yours!
