Default Good price on new S40 T5??

I am looking at new S40's. I currently drive a Nissan Titan and gas is killing me. I am considering trading it in. I know I am going to take a beating on a trade but.....

Anyway, I see on Edmunds.com that people are paying well UNDER invoice for new Volvo's. That's what the website is telling me anyway. The Volvo that I "built" was an "06 S40 T5 automatic with leather/sunroof. Edmunds gave an msrp of 31K, invoice of 29.3K and TMV(price people are paying) at around 27.8K. That's about $1,500 under invoice. They showed S60's at around $3,000 under invoice!!

What did some of you pay for a new S40?? Is this info from Edmunds for real?? If so, I will be heading to my nearest Volvo dealer asap...haha

By the way, other cars I am considering are Saab 9-3, Maxima/'07 Altima(nice, check them out), Accord, Passat/Jetta, Acura TSX, Subaru......etc. I am looking for the best bang for my buck and the best deal on both the new car and on my trade.

I have not driven an S40 yet, but I like what I see so far. There are a few in the parking lot where I work and I have been checking them out. I have read reviews on the car and they are all good. The ONLY thing that I am not thrilled with is that the back seat looks pretty small.

The S40 is at the top of my list, so any help/info/advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Wow, your prices sound very good. I have access to Ford A-Plan and was not able to get the reduction that you mentioned. I opted for a 2005, with 8,000 miles, for $25K. Being brand new wasn't important to me. As far as the car, I'm coming from an Audi A4 3.0. I like the S40 better, handles just as good as Quatro, much quiter, more nimble, nice turbo boost, and better gas mileage than advertised (I've got 34 on the highway!). Only shortcoming is the lack of the luxury interior of the Audi. If you choose the S40, make sure to get the features you want, as upgrading is very difficult. I can't get an aftermarket auto-dimming mirror, the dealer won't do it either. Also can't make any adjustments to the sound system. No specific ipod connection, only fm transmitter, which is marginal at best. As far as bang for the buck, if you don't care about handling, it's probably the Accord. If you want to feel alive -- try the S40!
