Default Is this T-5 good for that price?

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/car/474818632.html

Some info missing from his post....

1. On starting up in cold/wet weather he says that the car is slow and makes a bit more exhaust until it heats up. He said that it was due to an air filter or air pump or something that may have collected too much water inside it or something. Could someone elaborate on what may be causing it and how much trouble it'll be to replace it if necessary?

2. He said that nothing was ever replaced (turbo, timing chain, water pump... none of it). At 150k miles.... I'm sure SOMETHING would have gone out. What do you guys think on that?

There was also an awesome looking black one with dark tint selling for $6,250. From what I was understanding from that one is that it was in much better shape than the one above, also with only like 125k miles or so. That person said that the timing belt was replaced at 81k miles. The carfax looked really nice as well. With approx. 125k miles, how far should it run before service bills begin adding up and I should probably look at replacing the engine or whatever.....???? What do you guys recommend or what should I be looking for?

I really wanna get an S70 (preferably T-5)!!

If he never changed anything on the white one I would say stay away. He might not have changed the oil very much either. Which would lead to more problems later.
I am suprised the timing belt hasn't broke already at 150k.

The black one migth be the way to go. If he has Service records look them over good.
He sounds like he took some car of it.

As long as serviced like they should be oil change every 3k then the motors will last to over 300k or more.
Have the car looked over by a tech as well to be safe.

I would say the black one.

Thanks a lot for the input.

I also found a GLT with 100k miles for $6.5k.... I'll give it a try, but isn't the T-5 like way faster?

Yes the T-5 is faster but minor mods to the GLT will make it as fast as the T-5

Hard to believe somebody has an S70 with 150K and has NEVER changed the timing belt. They should be changed every 70K of five years whichever comes first. I can believe none of the other stuff has been changed though. What color interior does the black one have. I like the charcoal interior way better than the tan, but that's just personal preference. I do like white exterior better than black though. Finding a T5 for under $6,000 should not be that hard. Also consider going with an 850 which is basically the same car, but again stick with the turbo model or an R if you can find one.

Here is the one to buy. An 98 S70 T5 five speed with only 112K on it. It's on e-bay so hard to tell how much it will go for.

Where are you from? I was checking prices in other parts of the country (Northeast and Southwest) and prices were low like $4,500. For whatever reason, they're more expensive up here.

My apologies for the semi-off topic question, but what would be the "minor mods" for the GLT to make it as quick as the T5?
