What manual trans 87 240 have

Found a parts car for a good price. The owner doesnt know much about it. He just knows it manual. Would a 87 happen to have a 5 speed M47? Thanks

It might, '87 was a transition year, I have seen both...

From: 37 North on the left coast

if its got a switch on top of the shifter ****, then its the M46 w/ OD. if its got a 5 speed shift pattern, then its the M47.
