Default What turbo do I have?

I'm a BMW guy so I don't know much about this but I was looking around a junk yard a week or so ago and came on a 90's 740, 78k miles with a turbo. I pulled it out and now am wondering what exactly do I have. Who makes it, how much it's worth, etc. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Thats a Mitsubishi TD05 as was used on the B230FT engine in various Volvo 740/760/940 turbos. Earlier B230FT engines used a Garrett instead (and there's two versions of the Mitsubishi boosted B230FT, one with EGR and one without).

I paid $61 for it, if I can get $150 or something for it I would be happy. Otherwise i'll just paint it up and have something cool for the gurage. Was impressed with the car I pulled it from, it was the best looking car there. I have been impressed with the build quality of old volvos.

If its a TD05 Mitsu, then you can see the model plate. It is vertical with its face towards the front of the car. Frequently it is covered with grime, but clear visible between the pressurized air hose leaving the top of the turbo and the block. Just look down in between, and if its a Mitsu, you'll see the plate.

The Garretts on earlier models I know nothing about except they are the desired ones for performance. The Mitsu's though I am told have better longevity. I had mine rebuilt at 225k only because it had to come out when I blew an exhaust gasket.....

k, how about EGR vs non-EGR? there's a thin pipe heading out of the back of the exhaust manifold, is that the EGR line?

so assuming I have the Mitsu with EGR, my Vadis says a 92 745 Turbo uses volvo PN 3517646 and not 1389645. ah well.
