1992 745 GLA What type/color coolant is used in this car? What type of auto transmission fluid? Thanks, C.

 

Volvo coolant works well with Volvo engines, and is eco-friendly...take care of the cooling system and the 25-30 bucks forthe gallon is worth it...mix 50% distilled water to the coolant. make sure all hoses are in good condidtion, and that the thermostat is current.

the transmission fluid is your choice in regards to brand name; i would suggest you get a qualitysynthetic fluid, redline, mobil, or perhaps castrol...i think it's should be dexron 3 compatible. with a high quality fluid and a full flush you shouldnt have to worry about another fluid change for more than a year. make sure your transmission is in good shape.

 

Here's the deal coolant is coolant. You can pay 20 dollars a gallon at the Volvo dealer or you can go to your local auto parts store or even Wal Mart and pick it up for less than 5. The only difference in the two is the price. Color doesn't matter when it comes to coolant you can mix orange with green with blue or whatever color it comes in it's all exactly the same. As far as transmission fluid goes i would check your manual. It is most likely dexron 3 compatable but sometimes they recommend different kinds. My 240 takes type F so just check your manual and go with a good brand you trust.
