Which wheel and tires for my 782 Frankestein 740
Hi i'm from Ecuador south america
my ride is a 1989 volvo 740 gl, but now is a Volvo 782 gl
because now it has two doors and a LS1 chevi 5.3 engine.
I'm building a look alike BMW e30 M3 wide fenders and the question is this
Which 17 inches can I install with a 2"inches wide fenders, i'm talking about
here i can't find 5 x 108 B.P but i have a a 1.5 inches wide wheel adapter to 5 x
114.3 and which tire ? I thing 8 inches wide wheel and 245mm 40 R17 tire
or is imperative a narrow one in the front
Please give me some advise
Thanks in advance
Felipe

740 suspension rides really harshly with low profile tires due to the live ax]le rear end and fairly primitive suspension geometry. Only place I'd run /40 series tires is on a race track where its glassy smooth. /60 is about my limit for public roads, I had 205/55-16 on my volvo 740 turbo, and it made for a busy/harsh ride on rough roads.
now, if you're just doing this for looks, then whatever. A 205/50-17 should fit, using a 17x6.5 or 17x7 rim with the right offset. when you start talking body modifications, then you're totally on your own. the bigger the wheel is, the more critical a correct offset is. Do realize, too wide of a tire will make your steering much heavier feeling. So will the wrong offset
