My battery's OK but it's coming up on 7 years old and I'll need a replacement.

Group 24 battery for the 240. The Sears Diehard has the correct terminal config but no holddown flanges. Also the EverStart at WalMart. I even went to my local Volvo dealer. Nice holddown flanges but the terminal config is backwards. The tech came out and said "Sure we can install it. But you'll need longer (new) battery cables."

I've got two more stops -- NAPA ((Legend) and Kragen (AutoLite).

Do you just forget the holddown flanges and tie the thing down with rope??

 

try a drug store? or wal-mart? radioshack?

hardy har har, i was infact joking...though wal-mart does have automotive batteries. you can call up interstate or go on there website and look up local vendors/distributor. Are you living nowhere near Auto-Parts retailers??

 

Interstate should make a replacement for that car. I got one in mine, but cannot read the numbers.

 

I don't know how much this will help you, but my 240 (even before I inheritied it) has always had some of those cords...I forget the name...The cords that stretch and hold have hooks at the ends. Well anyways my car has ALWAYS had those cords to hold down the battery.
