Where's the radio antenna? 940 wagon
I haven't been able to start taking apart and rehabilitating my latest projects interior ('94 940 wagon) but I'm making a run to the junkyard for other parts and want to pickup what's needed. On the trip home the OEM radio goes completely out like the antenna fell off, then it came back after a while. When it's off I hear the static but no stations.
It looks like there is an antenna as part of the drivers side rear window (IMO those things are never any good) but there is also a plug on the outside which I'm guessing is there for another antenna. What's the story? Higher end models get a power antenna in the hole? Will the original hardness have a second coax there if I want to upgrade?

hey,
if you do not have any evidence of a hole where the antenna mast should be than you have the antenna built into the window. the small(black?) connector looks kind of like a 9 volt battery connector but is both female on the plug and snaps into the male side on the window. it should go to a small signal booster than on the end of the booster there is a standard radio anetnna plug.the booster should be located right below the connector concealed behind the interior trim panel(i dont think the antenna input wires are longer than a foot or 2) as for the radio stations going out, possibly the boosters bad but it does carry some straight through when deactivated-my setup only allows the booster to activate when i turn the antenna switch on. also make sure theres juice going to the booster. i retrieved a booster from a 1997(or 1998) v series i think v70 if i remember to add to my 1986 740. it sure made a BIG diffrence in pulling in stations here in wisconsin lol. but yea thats what you should have.
