1992 240 SL

When removing the old turn signal assembly I removed a bolt that held the ground. there was another ground wire under the bolt as well. I installed the new signal and placed both grounds under the bolt. then the wiper turned on slowly when I turned on the headlights. the right front headlamp is not at full power and the wipers eventually stopped working altogether. is the second ground attached to the wiper system and how do I fix?

 

are you talking about the front or rear turn signal? the ground screws near the front headlights ground all sorts of stuff. was everyhing clean and shiny when you reassembled that ground bolt ? I always spray a little Caig DeOxit on anything like that before reassembling, it helps make good contact.

 

I unscrewed the bolt and reversed the order of the two grounds and the it worked. It is the front right turn signal. Go figure.

 

I need to replace a pipe in the exhaust system of my 1992 240 DL. It's the pipe that runs straight under the middle of the car. What's the width of the pipe?

 

um, you really should start your own thread, with a suitable title, as this has nothing to do with wiper motor/headlight grounding issues.

are you talking about the pipe between the pre-muffler and the main rear muffler ? Thats Volvo PN 1219271, and is a fairly complex pipe with a bunch of bends to clear the rear axle.

or, are you talking about the pipe from the catalytic converter back to the pre-muffler? that pipe is part of the cat and was never sold separately. I dunno what size it is, I'd measure whatever I have left of the original..
