YAOLT!! (Yet Another Oil Leak Thread)
Never mind about using the ipd tool on the camshaft. I couldn't see a way to use it.
Got a valve cover gasket in the parts pile? If so...maybe remove valve cover...place old towel/shirt on camshaft...clamp on some vice grips over the towel/short.

).Valve cover gasket replacement is up next, but hopefully that'll be a short job.

So I got everything off and replaced the seals. Why the heck does every video I look up show the seals just pop right in where they are supposed to go, when that is most definitely not the case? Trying to keep the inner 'lip' from turning out is one challenge, getting the thing in square is quite another. Salvation came in the form of an old piece of 1-1/2" PVC pipe I found in a dusty corner of my workshop. I sawed it off square, cut off a section about 4 inches long, and gently tapped a rubber mallet on the end for some "percussive encouragement" to get the seals in. They complied, though a bit grumpy about it. The crank seal was a bit more fiddly; it went on the shaft without a fuss, but refused to go any further. As I do not have a large piece of PVC to work that one in, I cut off a small piece of dowel and gently tapped around the circumference until all was seated happily.
That all done, assembly is the reverse of disassembly; I put a thin layer of oil or anti-seize where appropriate, looked up torque specs, and buttoned her up good. Took a drive around the block and didn't hear any new or worrisome noises. My wife promptly took it for a jaunt to the grocery store and came back in one piece, so that's encouraging. Now to let the tensioner out as the new belt stretches.
Done.
