1985 740 turbo no start
Hi All,
My 1985 740 turbo wagon quit while going down the road. It lost power and sputtered, when I tried to start it sputtered a few times and when I press the gas pedal the engine would not rev up. Now the engine only cranks. I took off the hose the red arrow is pointing to and tried to start the car, no gas came out.
Does this indicate the A. fuel pump/s are bad and or B. the fuel pump relay is bad? or C. is there something I missed.
Does the 740 wagon have the hatch to access the fuel pump?
Prior to this problem I noticed the gas gauge would jump around while driving, I don't know if this is an indication of the problem.
Thank you for your assistance,
Arden

Do you have spark? - If the fuel injection computer does not receive a signal from the ignition computer the fuel pump will not run. This is overridden during the start sequence. Try turning the ignition switch to the off position and then turn the key to the run position and listen for the fuel pump.
