Hey all, I'm in the market for a new(to me) volvo and found a one owner 960 with 115k miles for $1250. I am going to try to take a look at it tonight, I'm fimiliar with the 740s and their ocational querks. What should I be looking for on these. Anything specific to the 760s

Thanks in advance!

Is it a 760 or 960. Hopefully you have looked at the car and made a decission already.

For some reason, the Volvo Mother Ships (760 & 960's) have very little input from people. It seems like they are only purchased by people that have money to get EVERYTHING done at the stealer and not many of those owners visit places like this. They also are tweeked up so there is not many mods done to them. Kinda like having a Caddilac but for Volvo owners.

Sorry you had no help on this one.

Well those are rear wheel drive so drive it and see how it feels.... With any Volvo just check and see what service has been done. IMO, I tend to see that the 9 series Volvos are often taken to the Stealerships by Original owners for service, though if it is taken in to an independent place for service check the records. I personally ALWAYS ask the inteval of oil changes. Volvo suggests on Synthetic Oil 5k on changes. I personally do 3,500-4k max on my turbo...I have also seen a few where the A/C needs to be serviced. Just take it for a drive with mixed driving. Some high speeds and some neighborhood speeds. You can tell a lot just by that. Also check for leaks on the rear end. Good Luck, those 960's are good looking cars. Not enough out on the street, so at the right price, they can be a bargain....Keep us up to date on your purchase.

Those 960's and S90's are the cats meyow. My daughter cut her teeth on one and now drives a S70. She took the 960 to the shop the other day and had to call me to remind me how smooth the car is. Everything about it is smooth. The ride, acceleration, sound system, it is smooth as silk.

Yeah I love my 960. It has officially become the "most comfortable car for a roadtrip" among my group of friends that I travel with. As long as they pay for the gas, I'm all about it. Plenty of cargo room (especially with the roof rack), comfy seats, decent mileage, good stereo, etc. etc.
