Hi there,
Im new to the volvo community although not the wagon community, i recently purchased a 1992 volvo 960 estate with 172,000 miles. it had an interesting backstory due to the first owner purchasing the car in europe and driving it around for 4 years until bringing it stateside. apparently the second owner had trouble with some electrical components not being US spec so i was wondering if there were indeed other differences to look for considering it’s a euro model, it also has “bilia” attached to the original volvo rear end emblem which i’m still confused about, i’ve never seen a badge like it and can’t find a single one online, it had a “special delivery” us tourist and diplomat sales sticker so i know it definitely grew up overseas, any help is greatly appreciated. sorry for giant paragraph although one more thing, has anyone put a glass sunroof in the 92? is it the same dimensions as later years to just retrofit? are there any ways to reliably increase hp(i believe it’s a b6304 motor [which allegedly has too weak a block for a turbo]but pls correct if wrong) hope everyone has a
wonderful day, sorry for the big chunk.
European delivery is common, and the car is US spec car, not a Euro spec car. You pay for it in the US, you take delivery in Sweden, drive around then ship it to the US. You save and get a trip. The glass sunroof will be OK but you have to change the whole assembly, i.e. drop the headliner and replace the whole tray with one with glass roof. Easier on a wagon, PIA on a sedan.
