Default 1994 Volvo 960 timing belt change ?

Hello ,.im new to this forum,.I am replacing the timing belt on a 1994 960 3.0L
i have seen the routine on autodata disc,..but am a bit confused as ,to the timing marks ? theres no marks on the cam sprockets(i.e lines),.just a white paint mark on each,..am i to assume these are the manufacturers marks ?,also the Crank sprocket, i can see the raised mark on front case, but nothing on the belt sprocket itself,..i did notice a raised line on the crank pulley hub,..but when removing No1 plug and placing a rod down the bore, with the hub line and case mark alignied, the piston is not @ TDC ?,..i know some cars have the cam timing set at below/after TDC,..would this be the case with this vehicle ?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, heres hoping! lol
Many Thanks in advance Mick

I'm not sure what's going on with your car but I did put detailed instructions on my site: http://www.atthetipwebs.com/technolo...iming_belt.htm

Those white marks may have been put on by a Volvo mechanic but not by Volvo. There has to me knotches in the cams. Hope these help.

Not sure. I think the belt is different. I have read that the belt change on the '93 models are 50,000 instead of 70,000 like mine. Maybe that doesn't matter other than some other part. I changed the belt on my S70 and could have used my 960 instructions to do that on a 5 cylinder motor. Pull the cover and look at it. See if anything looks different.

when i have done the Tbelt, i have used a straight edge across both cam sprockets to mark the sprockets, after they are lined up to the marks on the Tcover. once the plastic Tcover is off, you have no reference for the cams. i use the marks i put on as a guide before i put the plastic cover back on.

i just looked at my cam on my 95, there is a very small hash mark on the sprocket.
look on the back side of the crank sprocket, volvo did not make the marks very noticeable, but they are there.

the wihite marks may have been put on there to make the hash mark stand out.
