1995, 960 coolant flush.
hello volvo forum. I have to put new coolant in because the one that is already in there from when i brought the car a few months ago is different from the one i bought now. the one that is in there is like a brownish green color and the one i have from o'reilly is blue. now a repair shop will do this for $50 but i heard it wasnt hard to do so i figured i could try and do it myself. does anyone know where the flush plug is? how does it look or if anyone has a picture of how it looks? and also after it is flushed do i just run a water hose down it until it's clear? how do i conclude after pouring coolant in? thanks for any help.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
It sounds like maybe you should pay the $50. Other than that, I don't know of any car that has a "flush plug". The radiator has a drain and the block has a drain. If you drain both you will get maybe 80% of the coolant out. Then you should put the distilled water and/or the flush fluid in and run the car for a few minutes. Drain that out, fill and drain 2 or 3 more times with distilled water. Then finally fill with your coolant.
What type of coolant did you get? What does the bottle say?

Volvos DO HAVE Flush plugs, the B230s have them on the pass side half way up in the block... Hard to do a decent flush without flushing the block.
As far as that 960, you should read this:960 Information
