Default 1995 960 Speedomter woes - how to remove speed sensor

Hi all - I picked up a relatively inexpensive 960 - it has a non-functioning speedometer/odometer. I assumed it was an easy fix. Research on this board and others recommended looking at the speed sensor on the rear differential. I spent quite a bit of time under the car yesterday. Can someone share the secret with me on how to get the darned thing off ? I could barely get a few fingers up there, not nearly enough to get it disconnected, and even if I could, I doubt seriously that I could reconnect it after inspecting it. The car looks like an urban tank from the underside, and I could see no way to reach that sensor, yet I'm sure people on this board must have done it. Anyone care to share the secret ? Thanks in advance. urbs4.

Sorry urbs4. For some reason, 960's are not known for diys'ers. I'll look under mine this weekend and see if I see an answer for you.

What does not work? The speed needle? The milage gauge? or the entire cluster???
