Please help me to understand the following. Trunk badge S90 however CarFax using VIN# say 960.
Vehicle was manufactured in May 1997, registered in US Sept 1997.
is this S90 or 960?
I know that S90 manufactured in 1998 always come up as S90 in any database.

what's the VIN? does it begin with YV1KW960V1?

 

Yv1ks9606v (followed by 7 digits as usual). My other s90 from 1998 has leter w instead of v.

There was another conversation about this same issue a few years back. A makes alotta sense answer was that Volvo decided to rename the 960 and call it S90 in mid 1997. I have two 1997 wagons, One is a 960, the other one is a V90 and neither are S90's. The V90 and 960 have a few minor differences but are basically the same car. I'll agree with the vin number should show '960' somewhere in the sequence. Hard to find either of these care with low mileage.
