1997 Volvo 960 - Where is the EGR valve and vacuum control solenoid...
I'm trying to figure out where the EGR valve and vacuum control solenoid are located. I think they are causing a P0410 code and I need to try to clean them out to see what happens.
The P0410 code is for the Secondary Air injection, Bad Air Pump & SAS Valve - PO410 - Secondary Air - Volvospeed Forums
Boy that thread went on forever. I believe I did find all of the componets in the secondary air system. I decided to go to FCP and fish through their parts as if I was going to purchase all of them. The only one I had a hard time finding today was the EGR. It is actually located almost next to the brake fluid res.
I took some car cleaner and sprayed out everything involved and will see if that does the trick.

When the SAS Valve does not close fully when PAIR (Pulsed Air System) shuts down, exhaust fumes enter the pump. This hot air condensates into water, and many people have found their pumps full of water.
The real question is: did you just get another 960?

No, I wish. I was working on one for a lady.
I'm trying to pick up a S70 today. The lady is down to $500. She overheated the car and now they can't get it started. The top radiator hose was blown. I think it's either flooded or the head gasket is blown. I never took a motor apart like that (head gasket job). I think I'm going to do a compression test on it and decide what I'm going to do with it from there. I think it will have poor/bad compression if they blew the head gasket or messed up something in the motor.

Maybe the mushroom valve is stuck closed. Take it out -- apply vacuum and you should see it open / blow thru it. Spray some WD40 and it should loosen up.
Solenoid is also a possibility. Solenoid opens up when 12V is applied.
