1998 V90 Suddenly Won't Crank
Hi all,
I just bought - literally, just brought it home yesterday afternoon, a 1998 V90 with 177K on the clock. The car had been sitting with infrequent start ups for a few months prior to my purchase, but it started up without fail every time I tried it before buying it and several times last night.
This morning I went out to do some interior clean up and started the car so as to move the shifter out of park to enable access to the ashtray which needed to be reseated.
I must have turned the car off while it was in D and then when I shifted it back into park with the key on it, and afterwards it would no longer crank. What happens now is all the dash lights come on, as expected, and when the key is turned to start I get the sound of a single click which seems to emanate from under the passenger seat, as well as a high-pitched whine that's barely perceptible.
I have tried jumping the battery,as I thought that was the issue, as well as moving the shift lever and trying to start in neutral, neither of which worked. Can anyone provide some info on what that clicking under the seat might be, as well as what my car's issue might be?
Thanks in advance,
Rob
