Ugh... lost a cylinder in my engine.What engines are compatable with a '94 960? The reason I ask is I heard that I could drop a 305 or 350 into it. Everything else on the car is perfect and I've thought about playing with it anyway, so if anyone knows it would be much appreciated. Also, I can't seem to find any rebuilt 3.0's online. I suppose with gas prices how they are, I would also consider dropping a 4 cylinder into it if the 940 engine would fit. Anyone have a clue?

I would love to do this to one and see how it drives.
The 960 motor is getting hard to find.
We just had to get one and I believe it came from Michigan to Florida.
And it also has 140,000 miles on it.

Well, I got a check engine light and checked the code. It came up with the O2 sensor code. 2-3-2 I believe. It was running rough at idle. Took it into my friends shop and he noticed it was misfiring in cylinder 2. He checked the wires, plugs, coil and then noticed oil running all the way through. I'm going to try taking out the plug and hitting it with a deep penetrating lube to see if maybe the cylinder ring is just frozen, but i doubt that is the case. So, unless you can think of anything else it could be, I'm just going to run it until i decide what to do with it. It runs a good as ever when actually driving, but shakes BADLY at idle and fluctuates from about 600 to 900 rpm's.

 

Have you done a compression test?
It might just have a burn't valve.
